A staple of Palo Alto for 27 years, the original Bead Shop was the mecca for jewelry makers from all over the country. After closing their doors in August 2008, Janice and the Beadshop crew wanted a more representative online presence to sell Beadshop merchandise and present online tutorials and resources. Green Egg Media was brought in to design and build a site to meet those goals.

The design requirements for the Beadshop were unique and challenging - a more natural design was needed that both evoked real life elements, and let the images of the beads stand out. The colors needed to adapt to the colors of the products to let them shine instead of the design, no matter what the season or collection.

The resulting site creates an online space that Janice and her team can use to foster the same sort of community involvement the original Beadshop did in Palo Alto. Visitors can buy products, read step by step tutorials, and watch YouTube videos created by Janice. Using watercolors and art-inspired design elements, the design is able to showcase any collection or tutorial while still looking great.
